We came across a most macabre talisman. Sculpted of black metal slimy to the touch, it resembled a misshapen circle. A priceless ruby sat in the center, with writhing tentacles radiating from the edges, as if these fey protuberances had crawled their way from the amulet’s blood red core.

The ruby pulsed erratically, like a diseased heartbeat, and yet there was method to its queasy rhythm, for if one turned with it, the sanguine glow brightened or lessened based on direction. Thusly, we deduced that the charm acted as a compass, though leading out or deeper within, we knew not.

Having no other viable options, we chose to follow this uncertain guide until some better means of direction availed itself, or this necklace led us to our doom.
