This was a plentiful place with a bounty of riches, all seemingly ripe for the picking. And take we did, though like the mimic of yore, our spoil turned on us. With that clarity the jewelled apple lost its jaws, fine daggers no longer danced, and a golden necklace stopped coiling as a viper - they were ours to keep.
