Our vision twisted and distorted as we gazed on the arcane patterns and markings amidst the texts. But strangely, while we stared at them, our minds strained to adapt, and then all of a sudden the symbols became words, visible only in the mind’s eye.

The only task of this Chthonian monster, summoned by ritual, is to dig through stone and masonry until it reaches and destroys the vault at its base, deep below.

There was a realization of the great powers at play and our own pathetic insignificance as we went through numb, automated motions. We silently forged ahead, ignoring the enormous holes in the walls, viewing them merely as part of the decor.
