These are not final castings from a new mold. They are resin-printed production masters: pieces used to review the miniatures before creating the steel molds. For Machina Arcana’s monsters and explorers, that review went to Andy Scott.
The job was practical: check each model against the intended sculpt, note anything that needed adjustment, and make sure the details held up at game scale. Andy added a dark wash so the forms were easier to inspect on bare resin.
The wash also made the figures read well on camera, so he photographed more than a standard review pass. This gallery shows the full group, selected close-ups, and several tabletop scenes before the models enter full production.
